Quality Road Easily Takes the Woodward Stakes

Stupendous.

The horse was a heavy favorite, and after Saturday’s performance…he let no one down.

Quality Road drew away in the stretch run and easily won te $750,000 Woodward Stakes at Saratoga Race Course.

The race is the highlight race of the year, in Saratoga.

Quality Road was the prohibitive favorite, with odds at 3-10.

Johnny Velazquez was the jocket. Todd Pletcher the trainer.

Quality Road finished more than four lengths in the lead. Length of the race was a mile and an eighth. Time was 1:50. Winning purse was $450,000.

Quality Road paid $2.60 on a $2 bet to win.

Mythical Power returned $5.90 to place, and Tranquil Manner paid $4.60 to show.

The Woodward was Quality Road’s fourth victory in five starts this season, the third in a Grade 1 race.

No question, this is a top class horse.
